Bye Bye to the BaBa????
I just returned from Anna and Max's eighteen month check up. Everything went well and our Pediatrician said that it was time to take the bottle away. I know many do this at a year and many others wait until around two but how does one put a number to when a child is ready to give it up? They just enjoy drinking from it so much; I just don't know if I am ready to take it away.

We did it at a year...it was harder on me than the babies! It seems like such a huge step get rid of all those podee bottles that I loved so so much, but it was nice to get my counter back (then it was taken over by sippy cups so really no benefit to mommy!)
Dawn, E & W both are still drinking from theirs too and I just don't tell my doctor. LOL
I know he would tell me to take them away & honestly, I have never had a baby use them past 13 months olf before. But, I just don't care. LOL
These are my last babies and they will be my babies until i say they aren't . heehee
Just do what is right for you & them and if you do take them away from A & M, I bet they will struggle at the most for a day or two.
Go with your gut. Honestly what does it matter if they stop taking a bottle now or in 6 months, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't, KWIM?
Who says you have to give it up. Do it when you are ready.
I absolutely dreaded taking Hayden & Payten off of the bottle completely. It was more of I wasn't ready to have my babies not be babies anymore. The transition was cake for them and not as hard as I expected it to be. So I wish you luck and hang in there!
How did it go? I agree with Erin, It has always been harder on me than on the babies!! (remember I have done this 5 times now and it is still hard on me)
Santi is still on the bottle, and by the way it is going he will be 4 in kindergarten and with his bottle in the lunch box!
My girls are 20 monthes old and love their bottles. I don't know if I can take it away! We have tried milk in sippy cups but they just wont have it.
you are not alone! I hated to take the girls' bottles away as well.. but I wanted to do it before they got to the point where they were really attached to it... so far... so good! It has been almost a month and they seem to have adjusted well. I would just like to keep them babies a little while longer...
